Two exposures a wood-framed building carries before anyone moves in.
Both happen while the framing is still open, and both can be documented and handled then. Wood is renewable and grown across North America. The case for framing with it holds up better when these are dealt with.
Moisture
Water trapped under the plates
Rain and snow land on the deck during framing and collect under the bottom plates. Once the walls are up and the drywall is on, the underside of the plate is the one surface on the job nobody can reach again.
Fire
Framed, but not yet defended
No sprinklers, no gypsum on the studs, a full load of exposed lumber. Cheyenne lost a four-story apartment building under construction on May 26. Denver lost one to a five-alarm fire on January 2. Neither had anything to do with wildfire.

You keep your framer. We train them.
The interior lumber gets sprayed as the walls go vertical, before windows and mechanicals go in. Backpack or cart rig, MFB-31 ready to use, and the framer you already hired does it.

A report you can hand to your risk manager.
Each layer has a test standard behind it. The lumber arrives under an evaluation report from an ANAB-accredited agency, written against the alternative materials provision building officials are required to accept. Most builders have never been shown it.

The questions builders, framers and risk managers ask first.
- What is Class A fire treated lumber?
- Framing lumber with a Class A surface-burning rating: a flame spread index of 25 or less and smoke developed of 450 or less under ASTM E84. FireProShop Class A lumber is Douglas Fir coated at the mill with MFB-34 EPA Safer Choice Fire Retardant, evaluated under DrJ TER 2504-101 as an alternative to FRTW, and it arrives stamped on every piece.
- What is the difference between fire treated lumber and job-site fire defense?
- Fire treated lumber is coated at the mill and arrives stamped. Job-site fire defense is the second layer: the framer sprays the exposed interior lumber with MFB-31 as the walls go vertical, covering field cuts, blocking and anything that was not treated at the mill. Both run on the same chemistry.
- What is a construction mold defender?
- A treatment applied during framing to the surfaces that trap moisture after the walls go up and cannot be reached again. Snap-Plate Mold Defender is rolled on the snapped layout lines and the bottom of every plate before the walls are stood. It is tested to ASTM G21 and takes about an hour on a house.
- Does any of this add a trade or change the schedule?
- No. The lumber arrives stamped and is cut and nailed like any other stick. The plate line is rolled at layout and the interior is sprayed as the walls go vertical, both by the framing crew you already have. FireProShop trains them and sets up the equipment.
- Where does FireProShop ship?
- Across the Western United States, from Northern California to Los Angeles to Reno, out of NorCal Lumber north of Sacramento. FireProShop is based in Incline Village, Nevada.
- Will fire treated framing lower my insurance premium?
- We do not underwrite anything, and anyone who promises you a premium number is guessing. What exists is the documentation: the evaluation report, the test standards behind each layer and the application record for the address. We show it to you, and you hand it to your risk manager.
- Does fire treatment eliminate wildfire risk?
- No treatment eliminates wildfire risk. It reduces flame spread on the treated surfaces and buys time. If an evacuation order is issued, leave.
