MFB-34 EPA Safer Choice Fire Retardant treated Douglas Fir leaves the mill code-evaluated and stamped per member. Your crew cuts, nails and hangs it the same way. Bright uncoated steel nails are fine.

Roll the plate line

Snap your lines as usual. Roll Snap-Plate Mold Defender™ three inches wide of the line and coat the bottom of each plate before the walls are stood. The walls go vertical on the same schedule.

Spray the interior lumber

Before windows and mechanicals go in, the framer you already hired sprays the exposed interior lumber with MFB-31 from a backpack or cart rig. We train the crew and set the equipment.

When in the framing sequence does each layer happen?

The lumber is treated before the package ships and arrives stamped. The plate line is rolled on the deck at layout, before the walls are stood. The interior is sprayed as the walls go vertical, before windows and mechanicals. The paperwork is handed over at close-out.

Who applies the plate treatment and the spray?

Your framing crew. FireProShop™ trains them, sets the sprayer tips and pressure, and supplies the product. No new trade is added to the site.

Do my framers need a certification?

No. The method is a roller on the plate line and a backpack or cart sprayer on the interior, and FireProShop shows the crew how to do both to the framing date.

What paperwork do I get at close-out?

The DrJ TER 2504-101 evaluation report, the test standards behind each layer (ASTM E84 extended and E2768 for the lumber and spray, ASTM G21 for the plate treatment) and the application record for the address, ready for the building official and your risk manager.
